Fee Schedule

PLEASE NOTE: The Norfolk County Registry of Deeds recorded land postage and document return charge has been increased to one dollar per document effective July 1, 2005.  This fee, which had not been increased since 1999, has been raised to help cover increased costs associated with mailing back original documents to filers.

REGISTRY OF DEEDS AND LAND COURT FEE SCHEDULE

Important: Except where indicated, fees are the same for recorded and registered land, however, for each recorded land document; please add $1.00 for postage and document return.

 

Deeds Excise Tax
An Excise Tax of $2.28 for each $500.00 consideration stated on a deed or easement must be paid at the time of recording. For example, a deed of real estate for $150,000 requires excise tax in the amount of $684.00 along with the recording fee. There is no excise tax due where the consideration stated is less than $100.00.
