The Norfolk County Registry of Deeds has implemented internet-accessible document record research. The service offers both
Free Access and
Subscription (Log in) options. The difference is that the Log-in option requires an annual subscription
(see application information)and is required for printing of scanned images.
Users should expect that the system will not be accessible from 11 PM to 5 AM weekdays and will sometimes be unavailable on weekends to provide for system upgrades. Please check
REGISTRY NEWS for updates.
Basic features are:
- Both index information and scanned documents are available on line. Free access allows research, viewing of scanned documents and printing of index information.
- Subscription access is required for printing scanned images . The initial fee structure for subscribers is a $100 annual subscription fee and $1 per page for print images. Subscribers make payments, in $100 increments, into prepaid accounts, and the system tracks charges against those account balances. Please note that as part of implementation of the Online Research system, the previous Norfolk CompuSearch subscription program has been discontinued.
- Basic system requirements for users include Windows 98 SE or better, Internet Explorer 5.5 or better*, and a Browntech plug-in application which is available through the records access site.
- *AOL subscribers please note: If you are using AOL, to access the Registry Research area you should minimize your AOL browser, open Internet Explorer from your desktop and proceed from there.
- Land Court records include indices beginning September, 1985, scanned documents beginning 1900, and a complete, but unverified, owners index.
- Recorded land records include index information and document images from 1974 forward**, and plan book images beginning 1875. **Calendar 1979 document images are not yet online.
- We continue to expand the available records online and have made plan indices and images available as well.
