Norfolk County Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell recently delivered donations to the Weymouth Food Pantry. The contributions came from the registry staff and the public who participated in the Registry’s Annual Holiday Food Drive from November 21st to December 30th.
The Register stated, “On behalf of the many people who contributed to the Registry’s food drive, it is my pleasure to deliver these goods.” He handed over such items as boxes of spaghetti, jars of sauce and canned items such as soups, vegetables and fruits, along with cleaning and paper products. Weymouth Food Pantry manager Anne Marie Coyle added, “Donations are critical to our operations, we serve anywhere from 375 to 400 families each month.”
Register O’Donnell stated, “Many of our neighbors are in dire need of nutrition. A recent study conducted by Project Bread noted that 1 out of 9 families in the Commonwealth are considered to be food insecure. And winter is the toughest season to balance a family’s budget, given home heating cost.”
While at the Pantry, Register O’Donnell had a chance to view the operation. “You can see all the hard work that goes into making this venture a success. The Weymouth Food Pantry is one of the most impressive operations I have viewed throughout the years. It seems to have a wide-ranging plan when it comes to addressing the issue of hunger. Their work is truly exemplary.”
