Register O’Donnell Outreaches to Walpole Residents

Norfolk County Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell and his outreach team held office hours this past Thursday, April 26th at Walpole Town Hall. The Registry of Deeds is the principal office for real property records in Norfolk County cataloguing and housing more than 6 million land documents dating back to 1793.

O’Donnell and his staff met with local residents and were able to provide copies of land documents, including deeds, and land plans. Additionally, Registry personnel were also able to bring original land documents back to the Registry for recording saving local residents time and expense.

Register O’Donnell was also able to answer questions on a wide range of Registry topics  including the importance of having mortgage discharges filed in a timely manner and the benefits of the Homestead Act. “The Homestead law,” noted O’Donnell, “provides limited protection against the forced sale of an individual’s primary residence to satisfy unsecured debt up to $500,000. I urge Norfolk County residents to consider this consumer protection tool.”

“The Registry’s office hour events,” stated O’Donnell, “allow us to bring the Registry and its services directly to the citizens of Norfolk County. I was very appreciative that Walpole residents came to our office hours and our team was able to assist them with their questions.”

Register O’Donnell concluded by stating, “I want to thank the Walpole Board of Selectmen, Town Administrator Jim Johnson, and all the staff at town hall for their generosity in allowing us to hold office hours and bring the Registry directly to the citizens of Walpole.”
