Register O’Donnell to Guest Speak for Thayer Public Library Genealogy Club

Braintree, MA- Continuing his efforts to bring the Registry of Deeds directly to Norfolk County residents, Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell will be the guest speaker for Thayer Public Library Genealogy Club held at the Thayer Public Library, 798 Washington Street, Braintree in the Logan Auditorium, Saturday, December 9th, at 10:00 a.m.

The Register will give an overview of the Registry, which is the principal office for real property records in Norfolk County, cataloging and housing more than 10 million land documents. Also covered in the presentation will be information on the ability to lookup Land Documents dating back to the first ones recorded in 1793 through the Registry of Deeds’ online internet research system. These records are available to the public via the Registry’s website at www.norfolkdeeds.org.

The Registry of Deeds has made the genealogy research process easier through its History Comes Alive Transcription Program, where all the Registry documents from 1793 to 1900 are transcribed from old cursive writing into clearly readable and easy-to-read and print documents.

The program will also include information on the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds plans to open up a Genealogy Research Center where patrons can come in to use our free databases, such as Ancestry.com and American Ancestors.

The event will conclude with a brief question-and-answer session to address any specific questions attendees may have.

As part of the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds community outreach initiative, Register O’Donnell offers this program in an effort to provide information as to the functions and services the Registry of Deeds provides to the residents and businesses of Norfolk County.

The Norfolk County Registry of Deeds will be closed on Thursday, July 4th in celebration of Independence Day. We are open Friday, July 5th.
