Brookline, MA 1st Quarter 2016 Real Estate Activity Report

During the 1st quarter of 2016, real estate activity in Brookline saw decreases in both total sales volume and average sales price.

 

There was a 2% increase in the number of land documents recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds from the town of Brookline during the 1st quarter 2016. 2,079 land documents were recorded versus 2,037 during the first quarter 2015.  

 

The total volume of real estate sales in Brookline during the 1st quarter 2016 was $199,959,483, a 27% decrease from the same time period in 2015. Also, the average sale price of homes and commercial property decreased 31% in Brookline. The average sale price was $1,470,290. 

 

The number of mortgages recorded (470) on Brookline properties during the 1st quarter 2016 was down 1% from the previous year. However, total mortgage indebtedness increased by 30% to $441,260,601 during the same period.

 

There were 0 foreclosure deeds filed against Brookline properties during 1st quarter 2016, the same number filed during the 1st quarter 2015. 

 

Finally, homestead activity increased 5% in Brookline during the 1st quarter 2016 with 142 homesteads filed compared to 135 during the same time period in 2015.
