Brookline, MA 1st Quarter 2018 Real Estate Activity Report

During the 1st quarter of 2018, real estate activity in Brookline saw decreases in both total sales volume and average sales price.

 

There was an 11% decrease in the number of land documents recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds from the town of Brookline during the 1st quarter 2018. 1,827 land documents were recorded versus 2,060 during the first quarter 2017.  

 

The total volume of real estate sales in Brookline during the 1st quarter 2018 was $164,233,037, a 16% decrease from the same time period in 2017. Also, the average sale price of homes and commercial property decreased 9% in Brookline. The average sale price was $1,346,172. 

 

The number of mortgages recorded (329) on Brookline properties during the 1st quarter 2018 was down 21% from the previous year. Total mortgage indebtedness also decreased 14% to $225,929,295 during the same period.

 

There was 1 foreclosure deed filed against a Brookline property during the 1st quarter 2018, compared to 2 foreclosure deeds filed during the 1st quarter 2017. 

 

Finally, homestead activity decreased 18% in Brookline during the 1st quarter 2018 with 329 homesteads filed compared to 419 during the same time period in 2017.
