Brookline, MA 1st Quarter 2019 Real Estate Activity Report

During the 1st quarter of 2019, real estate activity in Brookline saw a decrease in total sales volume but an increase in average sales price.

 

There was a 12% decrease in the number of land documents recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds from the town of Brookline during the 1st quarter 2019. 1,613 land documents were recorded versus 1,827 during the first quarter 2018.  

 

The total volume of real estate sales in Brookline during the 1st quarter 2019 was $151,612,091, an 8% decrease from the same time period in 2018. However, the average sales price of homes and commercial property increased 4% in Brookline. The average sale price was $1,403,815. 

 

The number of mortgages recorded (281) on Brookline properties during the 1st quarter 2019 was down 15% from the previous year. Also, total mortgage indebtedness decreased 14% to $195,424,202 during the same period.

 

There was 1 foreclosure deed filed against a Brookline property during the 1st quarter 2019, the same number recorded during the 1st quarter 2018. 

 

Finally, homestead activity increased 3% in Brookline during the 1st quarter 2019 with 128 homesteads filed compared to 124 during the same time period in 2018.
