Brookline, MA 2nd Quarter 2015 Real Estate Activity Report

Real Estate activity in Brookline, MA during the 2nd quarter of 2015 saw an increase in total real estate sales volume but a corresponding decrease in total mortgage indebtedness.


There was an 18% increase in the number of land documents recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds from the town of Brookline during the 2nd quarter of 2015. 3,092 land documents were recorded versus 2,613 during the 2nd quarter of 2014.


The total dollar volume of real estate sales in Brookline during the 2nd quarter of 2015 was $297,185,264, an 11% increase over 2014 2nd quarter numbers. The average sales price of deeds over $1000, both residential and commercial properties, was $1,104,777, a 10% increase from the same time period in 2014.


The number of mortgages recorded against Brookline properties during the 2nd quarter of 2015 was 669, a 35% increase from the 2nd quarter 2014 number. Total mortgage indebtedness was $438,854,554 for the quarter compared to $502,996,828 for the 2nd quarter 2014.


There was 1 foreclosure deed filed against Brookline property during the 2nd quarter 2015.


Finally, homestead activity increased in Brookline during the 2nd quarter 2015 with 254 Homesteads recorded representing a 6% increase from the 2nd quarter 2014 total of 239.
