Brookline, MA 2nd Quarter 2016 Real Estate Activity Report

During the 2nd quarter of 2016, real estate activity in Brookline saw a small decrease in total sales volume but a small increase in average sales price.

 

There was a 10% decrease in the number of land documents recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds from the town of Brookline during the 2nd quarter 2016. 2,777 land documents were recorded versus 3,092 during the second quarter 2015.  

 

The total volume of real estate sales in Brookline during the 2nd quarter 2016 was $294,922,138, a 1% decrease from the same time period in 2015. However, the average sale price of homes and commercial property increased 4% in Brookline. The average sale price was $1,147,556. 

 

The number of mortgages recorded (606) on Brookline properties during the 2nd quarter 2016 was down 9% from the previous year. Total mortgage indebtedness also decreased by 7% to $407,997,481 during the same period.

 

There was 1 foreclosure deed filed against a Brookline property during 2nd quarter 2016, the same number filed during the 2nd quarter 2015. 

 

Finally, homestead activity decreased 8% in Brookline during the 2nd quarter 2016 with 234 homesteads filed compared to 254 during the same time period in 2015.
