Brookline, MA 2nd Quarter 2021 Real Estate Activity Report

During the 2nd quarter of 2021, real estate activity in Brookline saw increases in total sales volume but a decrease in average sales price. 

 

There was a 51% increase in the number of land documents recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds from the town of Brookline during the 2nd quarter 2021. 3,569 land documents were recorded versus 2,357 during the 2nd quarter 2020.   

 

The total volume of real estate sales in Brookline during the 2nd quarter 2021 was $458,613,889, an 89% increase from the same time period in 2020. Also, the average sale price of homes and commercial property decreased 12% in Brookline. The average sale price was $1,455,917.  

 

The number of mortgages recorded (769) on Brookline properties during the 2nd quarter 2021 was up 16% from the previous year. Total mortgage indebtedness was $592,745,198, up 12% from the 2nd quarter 2020.   

 

There were 1 foreclosure deeds filed against Brookline properties during the 2nd quarter 2021 compared to foreclosure deed filed during the 2nd quarter 2020. 

 

Finally, homestead activity in Brookline increased 86% during the 2nd quarter 2021 with 279 homesteads filed, compared to 150 filed during the same time period in 2020.
