Brookline, MA 3rd Quarter 2017 Real Estate Activity Report

During the 3rd quarter of 2017, real estate activity in Brookline saw decreases in both total sales volume and average sales price.

 

There was a 21% decrease in the number of land documents recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds from the town of Brookline during the 3rd quarter 2017. 2,493 land documents were recorded versus 3,149 during the third quarter 2016.  

 

The total volume of real estate sales in Brookline during the 3rd quarter 2017 was $309,008,573, a 23% decrease from the same time period in 2016. Also, the average sale price of homes and commercial property decreased 15% in Brookline. The average sale price was $1,226,224. 

 

The number of mortgages recorded (437) on Brookline properties during the 3rd quarter 2017 was down 35% from the previous year. Total mortgage indebtedness also decreased 45% to $293,215,662 during the same period.

 

There were 0 foreclosure deeds filed against Brookline properties during the 3rd quarter 2017, compared to 3 foreclosure deeds filed during the 3rd quarter 2016. 

 

Finally, homestead activity decreased 12% in Brookline during the 3rd quarter 2017 with 225 homesteads filed compared to 257 during the same time period in 2016.
