Brookline, MA 3rd Quarter 2018 Real Estate Activity Report

During the 3rd quarter of 2018, real estate activity in Brookline saw a decrease in total sales volume but no increase in average sales price.

 

There was a 6% decrease in the number of land documents recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds from the town of Brookline during the 3rd quarter 2018. 2,348 land documents were recorded versus 2,492 during the third quarter 2017.  

 

The total volume of real estate sales in Brookline during the 3rd quarter 2018 was $292,931,677, a 5% decrease from the same time period in 2017. However, there was no percentage increase relative to average sale price of homes and commercial property. The average sale price was $1,225,655. 

 

The number of mortgages recorded (367) on Brookline properties during the 3rd quarter 2018 was down 16% from the previous year. However, total mortgage indebtedness increased 1% to $296,744,561 during the same period.

 

There was 1 foreclosure deed filed against a Brookline property during the 3rd quarter 2018, compared to 0 foreclosure deeds filed during the 3rd quarter 2017. 

 

Finally, homestead activity decreased 8% in Brookline during the 3rd quarter 2018 with 206 homesteads filed compared to 225 during the same time period in 2017.
