Norfolk, MA 1st Quarter 2017 Real Estate Activity Report

During the 1st quarter of 2017, real estate activity in Norfolk saw a decrease in total sales volume but an  increase in average sales price.

 

There was a 10% decrease in the number of land documents recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds from the town of Norfolk during the 1st quarter 2017. 515 land documents were recorded versus 575 during the first quarter 2016.  

 

The total volume of real estate sales in Norfolk during the 1st quarter 2017 was $13,610,127, a 34% decrease from the same time period in 2016. However, the average sale price of homes and commercial property increased 5% in Norfolk. The average sale price was $469,314. 

 

The number of mortgages recorded (101) on Norfolk properties during the 1st quarter 2017 was down 17% from the previous year. Total mortgage indebtedness also decreased by 19% to $30,635,791 during the same period.

 

There was 1 foreclosure deed filed against a Norfolk property during 1st quarter 2017, the same number filed during the 1st quarter 2016. 

 

Finally, homestead activity decreased 24% in Norfolk during the 1st quarter 2017 with 42 homesteads filed compared to 55 during the same time period in 2016.
