Real Estate activity in Norwood, MA during the 2nd quarter of 2015 saw increases in both total real estate sales volume and borrowing.


There was an 18% increase in the number of land documents recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds from the town of Norwood during the 2nd quarter of 2015. 1,385 land documents were recorded versus 1,169 during the 2nd quarter of 2014.


The total dollar volume of real estate sales in Norwood during the 2nd quarter of 2015 was $68,063,236, a 64% increase over 2014 2nd quarter numbers. The average sales price of deeds over $1000, both residential and commercial properties, was $673,893, a 72% increase from the same time period in 2014. These numbers were affected by a small number of high-end commercial real estate transactions that took place during the 2nd quarter 2015 including the $24 million sale of the Hampton Inn.


The number of mortgages recorded against Norwood properties during the 2nd quarter of 2015 was 297, a 20% increase from the 2nd quarter 2014 number. Total mortgage indebtedness was $155,680,172 for the quarter compared to $75,477,322 for the 2nd quarter 2014.

Finally, homestead activity increased in Norwood during the 2nd quarter 2015 with 139 Homesteads recorded representing a 14% increase from the 2nd quarter 2014 total of 122.
