"The sucess is in its numbers," noted Norfolk County Register of Deeds William P. O'Donnell, who today announced the Registry recently recorded its 100,000th document submitted electronically. Since 2010, the Registry has partnered with electronic recording vendor Simplifile to provide qualified institutional users, such as real estate professionals, banks and mortgage companies, law firms, and title research companies the ability to file original documents electronically without having to leave their offices.
Commenting on the electronic recording program, Register O'Donnell stated, "The Norfolk County Registry of Deeds is continually on the lookout to leverage cutting edge technologies to improve the customer experience at the Registry both for our institutional customers and members of the public. Norfolk County was one of the first Registries in the Commonwealth to provide electronic recording capability to its institutional customers. Today, approximately 25-30% of our weekly intakes of land documents (deeds, homesteads, mortgages, etc) are recorded via electronic filing."
For those interested, an E-File Submitter agreement on the website needs to be filled out and filed with the Registry before documents can be accepted electronically. Institutional customers who wish to utilize electronic recording of documents should click on the link https://simplifile.com/eRecording/get-started.jsp to get started and review terms.
In conclusion, O'Donnell noted, "This is a win-win situation. Commercial customers and members of the public who work in real estate related fields will be able to use this state-of-the-art electronic technology reducing their overhead expenses, while at the same time, the Registry is able to maintain its high accountability standards for recording land documents."
