Registry IT Technology Rebuttal to County Commissioners-December 8, 2021

Many of you have asked for an update on the efforts to keep the on-site Registry Chief Information Officer (CIO) that has been funded and in existence at the Norfolk Registry of Deeds for over 20 years. The Norfolk Registry of Deeds also needs to keep the on-site direct-report IT technology staff that makes up the Registry IT Technology Department which has been in place for well over 35 years.

Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell today reminded Norfolk County residents to disregard a direct mail solicitation offering them a certified copy of their property deed for an outrageous fee of anywhere from $59.50-$95.00.

Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell again reminds Norfolk County residents that you do not have to spend time and money driving to the Registry to view land records since they are available online via the Registry’s internet-based document research system at www.norfolkdeeds.org.

The Abrahams study delivered recently to the Norfolk County Commissioners recommended not to keep the on-site Registry Chief Information Officer (CIO) that has been funded and in existence at the Norfolk Registry of Deeds for over 20 years. This paid consultant is also recommending eliminating entirely the on-site Registry IT Technology Department.

A number of concerned residents and users of Registry of Deeds services have recently inquired about getting an update about the Registry Chief Information Office (CIO). This position has been a filled, existing and budgeted job for nearly 20 years. The Registry CIO position is still an existing and budgeted position. The Registry CIO has not been vacant for one day during my tenure as Register of Deeds.
