Register O’Donnell Outreaches to Wellesley Residents

Continuing his efforts to bring the Registry directly to the citizens of Norfolk County, Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell and his outreach team held office hours on Thursday, September 27th at Wellesley Town Hall. O’Donnell and his team were able to provide attendees with copies of their property deed and check to see if all relevant mortgage discharges had been recorded.

Register O’Donnell stated, “One of the items we hear about during our office hours visits  is the subject of mortgage discharges. When a mortgage has been paid off, a mortgage discharge document needs to be recorded with the Registry of Deeds to clear a homeowner’s property title relative to that loan. A discharge is a document (typically one-two pages) issued by the lender, usually with a title such as “Discharge of Mortgage” or “Satisfaction of Mortgage. If you have questions about whether or not a mortgage has been discharged, please call our Customer Service Center at 781-461-6101.”

In conclusion, O’Donnell stated, “I want to thank the board of selectmen, Executive Director Blythe Robinson, and the entire staff at the Wellesley Town Hall for their generosity and cooperation in allowing us to bring the Registry directly to the citizens of Wellesley.”
