Quincy, MA- Continuing his efforts to bring the Registry of Deeds directly to the citizens of Norfolk County, Norfolk County Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell will join Quincy Access Television host Mark Crosby as guest speakers at the Kennedy Center, 440 East Squantum Street, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 10:00 am.
The Register will give an overview of the Registry, which is the principal office for real property records in Norfolk County, cataloging and housing more than 13.1 million land documents. Also covered in the presentation will be information on the ability to look up land documents dating back to the first ones recorded in 1793 through the Registry of Deeds’ online internet research system. These records are available to the public via the Registry’s website at www.norfolkdeeds.org.
Some of the records stored at the Registry of Deeds and online include deeds, liens, foreclosures, mortgages, conveyances, trusts, and mortgage discharges.
During the speaking program, Register O’Donnell will discuss the genealogical research capabilities of the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds available to the public.
Register O’Donnell will discuss how The Registry of Deeds has made the genealogy research process easier through its History Comes Alive transcription program, where all the Registry documents from 1793 to 1900 are transcribed from old cursive writing into easy-to-read and print documents.
As part of the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds community outreach initiative, Register O’Donnell offers this program in his effort to provide information as to the functions and services the Registry of Deeds provides to the residents and businesses of Norfolk County.
The wonderful partnership with Mark Crosby and Quincy Access Television in producing television segments in conjunction with the Registry’s “History Comes Alive” project has been highly successful. Two of these segments were recognized by the Foundation of the Alliance for Community Media winning the “Best of Experimental Access Center Professional” award in 2023 and 2024.
The event will conclude with a brief question and answer session to address any property questions attendees may have. Registry staff will also be able to provide residents with certified copies of land documents, such as deeds and mortgage discharges.
