Brookline, MA 2nd Quarter 2018 Real Estate Activity Report

During the 2nd quarter of 2018, real estate activity in Brookline saw no percentage increase in total sales volume but an increase in average sales price.

 

There was an 11% decrease in the number of land documents recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds from the town of Brookline during the 2nd quarter 2018. 2,316 land documents were recorded versus 2,606 during the second quarter 2017.  

 

The total volume of real estate sales in Brookline during the 2nd quarter 2018 was $318,939,299, no percentage increase or decrease from the same time period in 2017. However, the average sale price of homes and commercial property increased 11% in Brookline. The average sale price was $1,386,692. 

 

The number of mortgages recorded (432) on Brookline properties during the 2nd quarter 2018 was down 14% from the previous year. However, total mortgage indebtedness increased 45% to $384,324,117 during the same period.

 

There were 0 foreclosure deeds filed against Brookline properties during the 2nd quarter 2018, compared to 1 foreclosure deed filed during the 2nd quarter 2017. 

 

Finally, homestead activity decreased 14% in Brookline during the 2nd quarter 2018 with 199 homesteads filed compared to 232 during the same time period in 2017.
