Norfolk County Registry of Deeds William P. O’Donnell and his outreach team held office hours this past Thursday, February 27th at Medway Town Hall. The Registry of Deeds is the principal office for real property records in Norfolk County cataloguing and housing more than 8 million land documents dating back to 1793.
Register O’Donnell and his staff were able to provide local residents with certified copies of land documents, such as deeds and homesteads. In addition, Registry personnel were able to confirm for attendees whether or not a mortgage discharge had been recorded against their paid off mortgages. Finally, staff was able to bring original land documents for residents back to the Registry for recording.
The Register expressed his strong belief in the benefits of bringing the Registry directly to the residents of Medway. “These county office hours,” noted the Register, “allow us to bring Registry services directly to the citizens of Norfolk County without the inconvenience of having them travel to the Registry’s central office in Dedham.“
Register O’Donnell concluded by stating, “I want to thank the board of selectmen, Town Administrator Michael Boynton and all the employees at town hall for their generosity in allowing us to hold office hours and bring the Registry directly to the citizens of Medway.”
