Register O’Donnell’s “Norwood Notable Land Records” Program

Norwood – Norfolk County Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell helped bring to life the rich history of Norwood as part of a yearlong celebration marking the town’s 150th anniversary with his presentation entitled “Norwood Notable Land Records: People, Places & Properties” on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Morrill Memorial Library.

“This event celebrates the people and places that make Norwood such a special community,” said Norfolk Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell. “The stories of Norwood from the early years of South Dedham to the present really represent all the people, places and characteristics of Norwood that we are celebrating in this 150th Anniversary of the founding of Norwood”

Community members filled the seats at the Morrill Memorial Library to see the storyboards on display, highlighting Norwood’s rich history. O’Donnell also spoke about the community’s memorable stories and historic figures that have influenced the community.

“The individuals highlighted in those records represent a cross-section of the community. Norwood is a special place and should be celebrated. I’m happy to be a part of it,” said O’Donnell, who is a Norwood native.

Documents recorded at the Norfolk County Registry of Deeds connected to Norwood’s rich history and the notable stories and people behind them are the basis of a free booklet that were given to those who attended the event.

Jean Palmateer, a Norwood resident, who attended the speaking engagement on Thursday said she enjoyed the presentation and couldn’t say enough about the booklets.
